About the Author

John Aaron Nelson

John Aaron Nelson is a senior engineer and technical lead who builds developer tools, growth systems, and AI tooling. He is currently a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Calendly, where he owns Growth initiatives across frontend and backend and has driven organization-wide AI adoption through internal talks, enablement, and foundational tooling and integrations.

Before Calendly, he led frontend engineering at Pipedream, a developer automation platform, and at Batch.sh (YC W20), a cloud infrastructure and deployment platform. He has also served as a fractional CTO, taking an early-stage company from Notion-based workflows to a production SaaS and hiring the team to run it.

He runs MCP servers in production for Atelier (elier.ai), where customers edit their own live websites through ChatGPT, Codex and Claude. This book collects what that work has taught him about designing, securing, and operating them.
